Finding mental health & addiction treatment programs in Washington State can feel confusing. Program names often overlap, and terms like PHP and IOP are rarely explained clearly. Many people wonder whether virtual care is a real option or just a backup. At Clarity Healthcare, we offer both on-site and remote care with virtual treatment available across Washington State. Every program meets the same clinical standard. Your treatment plan comes first, and the format fits around it.
Everyone starts with one clinical intake that looks at mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions together. From there, we recommend a program built around what you need. It’s a clear path, at your pace, formed by assessments and a treatment plan made for you.
Levels of Care
Mental health and substance use treatment follows a continuum of care, from short inpatient stays to standard outpatient programs. In between are options many people in Washington State have never had explained clearly: partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and lighter outpatient support. Each offers a different level of structure and clinical contact.
At Clarity Healthcare, a clinical assessment determines placement into that continuum. During intake, our clinicians use a multidimensional approach, considering numerous factors: whether a person is medically and psychiatrically stable, whether another condition is also present, what support exists at home, and how ready someone is to engage in structured treatment. Diagnosis is part of that picture, but it isn’t the whole answer.
That same assessment also helps determine the appropriate treatment format. Our programs are available virtually, with in-person care also available in some circumstances. The right fit depends on your clinical needs and program availability. Telehealth works well for people with a stable home environment, reliable internet, and a private space for sessions. Part of the assessment is making sure the format fits you.
If someone needs a higher level of care, such as detox or residential treatment, we coordinate a referral to a partner provider. While we do not deliver these services directly, we stay involved and help you find the right place to start.
Find the Right Level of Support
We deliver most care through two programs: the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Both are available for mental health and addiction treatment, online with in-person options available when appropriate. Whether you are working through anxiety, depression, or substance use, you move through PHP or IOP with content built around your needs, structured care, real life, in the format and track that fits.
PHP is our most structured and intensive outpatient level of care. It runs multiple days a week for several hours each day. PHP combines individual therapy, group sessions, and medication management when needed, all organized around your specific condition.
IOP provides fewer treatment hours than PHP. Your sessions happen multiple days a week and include individual, group, and family therapy, but with fewer hours than PHP. This matters for people who need clinical structure but also need to keep working, attend school, or manage family responsibilities during treatment.
Built for Real Life and Real Results
Anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and substance use disorders can occur together and affect one another. We do not treat them as if they do. Whether you are working through addiction, a mental health condition, or both, our clinicians build one integrated treatment plan that addresses your needs together.
For someone with a co-occurring or dual-diagnosis condition, that means one clinical team addresses both conditions through an integrated treatment plan, drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, medication-assisted treatment, and individual, group, and family therapy, matched specifically to what the person needs.
Our mental health & addiction treatment programs in Washington State are available state-wide through telehealth. Whether you are in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Bellingham, Walla Walla, or a smaller or rural community, you can access support. No distance is too far. A clinician in one part of the state can support someone in another just as consistently as they would support a client nearby.
Simple, Transparent Access
Insurance factors into PHP and IOP the way it does for most behavioral health treatment: coverage depends on the specific plan. Many private insurance plans may cover some or all of PHP or IOP at Clarity Healthcare, depending on plan design, medical necessity criteria, and network status. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
The best way to confirm coverage is to verify your insurance with us before treatment starts. That way, cost is clear from the beginning.
Take the First Step Today
Getting started is more straightforward than the search that brought you here. It begins with a conversation. You reach out, and our admissions team directs you through the process, discussing your situation and what you are looking for.
Next, a clinician completes a full clinical assessment, covering your history, current symptoms, and the level of care that fits. We also help you understand your insurance coverage before treatment begins. After the assessment, we recommend a specific program and format and go over next steps to begin treatment.

These are the questions people ask most before their first call with us. If yours isn’t here, our admissions team is pleased to walk you through it.
We offer Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for mental health conditions, for substance use disorders, and for co-occurring conditions treated together. Virtual treatment is available across Washington State, with in-person care available in some circumstances.
Placement is a clinical decision, and we always talk through your goals as part of it. If you come in expecting PHP and your clinician recommends IOP, or vice versa, we explain the recommendation so you understand the reasoning. We may revisit it as you progress through treatment.
If your needs change, your clinical team can discuss whether a different available format would be appropriate for your care. Options depend on your clinical needs and program availability.
You’re not committing to anything by calling. Our admissions team asks about your situation and what’s brought you to look for care now, and you’re welcome to ask your own questions first. From there, we clearly explain next steps, including when the clinical assessment happens and how insurance verification fits into your specific situation.
You’ll begin in whichever program and format your assessment points to, whether that’s mental health or addiction-focused, PHP or IOP, virtual or in person when available. Your first sessions establish the therapeutic relationship and treatment goals your clinical team will build on as you move through the program.
